In April 1941, Vidor relocates their battery production to a former jute mill in Dundee, following WWII damage to their former Erith Factory

Vidor factory employs over 100 people and becomes the largest dry battery plant in Europe

1962

Vidor are aqcuired by Royston Industries

15th October 2025

1968

Royston Industries collapses and the Vidor brand is acquired by Crompton Parkinson, who have a long history of battery manufacturing.

1989

Vidor brand sold to US company Ray-O-Vac

15th October 2025

1991

TDI Batteries Ltd (Europe) begin manufactuing batteries for small appliances such as mobile phones

1998

Axeon Group was founded and became a leader in the design. development and manufacture of intergrated automotive battery modules

2007

Axeon merged with M-power, (who themselves were formed in 2003 by executives from TDI.)

2012

Axeon was aquired by Johnson Matthey and rebranded as Johnson Matthey battery systems. They continued to manufacture batteries, including the traction battery for the McLaren P1

MEP Technologies Ltd is founded by former Axeon project manager Stuart Morrison. ΜΕΡ Technologies engages in the design and manufacture of battery modules for a wide range of applications including e-mobility and automotive
